Physiotherapist, Massage Therapist, Sports Trainer.
Rob has a Diploma of Health Science, Massage as well as a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and is now completing a postgraduate degree in Clinical Physiotherapy with a Masters in Sport. Rob was the inaugural Head Trainer for the Fremantle Dockers, a position he held for several years before stepping aside to focus on studying in the Health Sciences field.
Further to clinical skills from undergraduate studies, Rob has attended specialist courses for foot and shoulder injuries as well as Dry Needling. He has also learnt specialist techniques such as “Mobilisation with Movement”, a pain free method of regaining good joint movement. The research topic for his masters study is looking into the efficacy of Rock Tape, also known as kinesiology tape.
Rob’s physiotherapy clients range through all ages. He is the physiotherapist for a private school’s senior fifteen rugby team as well as the Cottesloe Rugby Club's ladies team. Assisting older members of the community to maintain or improve their general mobility using both physiotherapy techniques and exercises prescription principles is something that also gives Rob great personal reward. “It’s great to see disabled or older people rebuild their strength and fitness and maintain an independently active lifestyle.”
Rob is a life member of Cottesloe Rugby Union Club and City Beach Surf Club. He has played over 300 first grade games, represented WA over an eight year period and was awarded the prestigious PG Hampshire trophy for the Fairest and Best player in the Western Australian Rugby union. In the surf club, Rob won numerous club awards for distance running events as well as a number of state titles in surfboats and beach events.
Rob is a keen runner, completing several marathons and half marathons as well as annual local races. Rob and his wife Jenny are keen trekkers and have hiked to Everest Base Camp in the Himalayas and through the Andes to Macchu Pichu as well as walking the Cinque Terra (in one day!), the Amalfi Coast in Italy and some of the Spanish Camino.
Rob has completed two tours of duty with Equal Health along with other health professionals providing a range of medical services to the poor and disadvantaged people in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India.
Rob loves the challenge of helping others be their best and lead an exciting, challenging, active and fulfilling personal, family and team life.
